Typed transcription of J.W. Brown's Civil War Journal (13 p.), biographical sketch, photocopies of images of Brown (one in Citadel uniform). Brown attended the SCMA from 1859-1861. Brown served in the 2nd Regiment S.C. Heavy Artillery from 1861-1865 and rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. The unit was engaged in the defense of Charleston Harbor, primarily James Island.
