Describes battles, weather, marches, food, a court martial and execution. Hayden was stationed in South Carolina on St. Helena Island, Beaufort; Seabrook Island on North Edisto River. Describes Charleston, John's Island, James Island, Morris Island, Fort Sumter, Fort Marion.
