Company I, Fourth New Hampshire Regiment stationed at Camp Howell on Folly Island, S.C.
States siege of Charleston has begun. Describes huge battery being built at night on Folly Island of which the Confederates are unaware. Believes the North is asleep as more men need to be drafted. Hopes Lee and the rebels will wake the North. Seventh U.S. Regiment under Putnam is nearby.
