William Mikell's address, Problems of the Old and New South, was delivered at the commencement exercises of the Citadel. Mikell describes problems that have come with material properity in the South. Advises audience not to judge people by the amount of money they have and not to lose the personal dignity of a gentleman of the Old Souoth in the race for riches. Speech described in News and Courier article July 1, 1908.
