1942-1945, in the Army Student Training Program (ASTP) while enrolled in the Medical College of South Carolina and then as first lieutenant and medical officer, U.S Army Air Forces/Air Force, 1945-1948. Posts from 1945 to 1948 included Keesler Field, Biloxi, MS; Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX; Boca Raton, FL, Air Base (Chief of Obstetrics); and Oliver General Hospital, Augusta, GA (Cardiovascular service).
