Navigator, Citadel graduate 1941. On plane which was forced down in the Pacific October 1942. DeAngelis and seven others including Eddie Rickenbacker survived twenty one days on raft in Pacific Ocean.
Life magazine Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, 1943; Seven Came Through by Captain Edward Rickenbacker; newspaper March 17, 1943 mentions DeAngelis and describes the experience in the Pacific Ocean.

Newspaper article, 1943 March 17. 1 p. Navigator. Citadel graduate 1941. Description of air crash in Pacific with Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker on board. DeAngelis used his Citadel ring as a weight on a fishing line. It was lost when a fish snapped the line.
