Franklin Roosevelt, assistant secretary of the Navy in World War I, thanks Hartzog for patriotic response to the Navy's call for binoculars, telescopes and spy glasses. He hopes to return them at end of war and that hard wear will be compensated by the fact that Hartzog supplied "Eyes for the Navy."

English quittance July 25, 1519 is a document certifying discharge from a debt or obligation. South Carolina paper currency issued 1779. Confederate bond issued Dec. 2, 1862 to mature July 1, 1878.
