Journalist, Citadel graduate 1935. Hitt was editor of the Evening Post, civic leader and a popular after-dinner speaker.
Correspondence, primarily incoming letters with some replies, from correspondents such as James Byrnes, William F. Buckley, Hanson Baldwin, Henry Ford II, George Wallace. Speeches are arranged by subject and cover Charleston community 1940's - l960's, freedom of press and The Citadel.
