Private in Confederate States Army, Company I, 24th Regiment, South Carolina Infantry, commanded by Ellison Capers. Padgett was on first roll at Coles Island April 21,1862; killed Battle of Franklin, Tennessee November 30, 1864.
Letters from Coles Island and Pocotaligo, South Carolina and Jonesboro, Georgia. Three letters to Padgett from his sister , Mary Ann Lark, in Hamburg, South Carolina and Newton, Georgia.
