Lawyer, Citadel graduate 1892, member of Board of Visitors 1912-1939, state senator 1914-1926. Padgett initiated legislation establishing The Citadel at present day site. Padgett-Thomas barracks bears his name.
Letters of praise for Padgett's work in building of new Citadel; Board of Visitors resolutions; awards; commencement addresses. Textbooks 1902-1906 used at the SCMA covering trigonometry, physics, calculus and history.
