Union Army officers. Jed Randall was Captain, 26th Connecticut Volunteers, Bank's Division in Louisiana. John F. Randall was a Lieutenant in 21st Connecticut Volunteers, Army of the Potomac.
The brothers discuss politics, camp life, marches, officers, the South, negro spirituals. January 29, 1861 letter mentions Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina.
