Adding a Horizontal Rule

  1. Place the cursor on the line above where you want it to appear on theWeb page.
  2. Go under the Insert menu, and choose Horizontal Rule.

Previewing the Page in a Browser

Please note:  You are looking at the Web page off of your computer, NOT the Web server.  To see how the page looks "live," you will need to put a copy of the Web page on the server.  For instructions on how to do this, please go to the Site Window page.

  1. Go to the File menu and choose Preview in Browser, and then choose Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer.
  2. A Web browser window will open displaying your Web page. 
    (Whenever you preview a Web page, Dreamweaver creates a temporary file that can be deleted.)
  3. Close the Web browser window when you are through.

Saving the Web Page

  1. Go to the File menu, and choose Save.
  2. The Save As dialog box opens.
  3. Make sure you are saving the file to the correct folder.
  4. Name the file
    • Use all lowercase letters.
    • Use an underscore, "_", instead of blank spaces.
    • Keep the file name to a maximum of 12 letters.
  5. Click Save.

Adding a Title

  1. Go to the Modify menu, and choose Page Property. (Figure 1)
  2. A dialog box will open
  3. Type the title for the Web page in the Title field.
  4. Click Apply to see the title appear, without closing the dialog box.
  5. Click OK.
