Who’s Who Among Students at
Dr. Mays reported that the official contact for this award at The Citadel was Mary Ann Dorton (dortonm@citadel.edu). Dr. Mays met two times with a committee of approximately ten faculty and staff at The Citadel to elect awardees based on nominations submitted from others across campus. The process was very simple; Dr. Mays submitted his top 45 to Mary Ann Dorton via e-mail and the average of all committee members was used to select the awardees.
Military Awards
Military Awards were handled differently this year. Pamela Barton (bartonp@citadel.edu) asked for one representative and Dr. Mays agreed to serve in this capacity.
Summer Scholarships
Dr. Trautman reported that the official contact for this award at The Citadel is Spike Metts (spike.metts@citadel.edu). Each committee member ranked the proposals submitted for summer scholarships to be funded by The Citadel Foundation. The work was done in February and early March.
Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award
The Committee’s final job was selecting recipients for the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. The committee received copies of all nominations and voted, via e-mail, for one graduating senior recipient and one non-student recipient of the award. Dr. Mays informed the Provost’s office of the Committee’s recommendations.
