Kurt Boughan (Ph.D., U. of Iowa, 2006) is the department specialist in Early Modern Europe and the History of Science and Medicine. His research interests are later medieval Italian scholastic medical theory and early Renaissance Italian urban culture.
Boughan is also interested in the application of digital technology in the humanities. He is the designer and manager of this website. He also is the technical consultant and web designer for the Citadel Oral History Program. He designed the promotional website for the Society for French Historical Studies 2011 conference, and managed the Society's first live webcast of a conference panel. He encourages all non-Apple users to embrace the freedom, power, and flexibility of the Linux operating system (any major distribution), and all humanities scholars to learn coding for the Web.
Boughan is the Department's Director of Graduate Studies.
