Tupperware's top executive coming to The Citadel
Rick Goings, chairman and chief executive officer of Tupperware Corp., will be the guest speaker during The Citadel's Spring Leadership Forum Luncheon at noon Friday, April 11.
The
luncheon is sponsored by the School of Business Administration. Registration
is $25 by Thursday, April 3. Registration for Citadel faculty, students
and staff is $10. The luncheon will be held in the Greater Issues Room
in Mark Clark Hall on The Citadel campus.
With
sales exceeding $1.2 billion annually, Tupperware is one of the world's
leading direct sellers. Tupperware's premium products reach consumers
in more than 100 countries.
Following
college, Goings was founder and president of Dynamics Inc., one of the
nation's first direct sellers of home security systems. He was recruited
to Avon Products Inc. in 1985 and since has held several senior management
positions, including president of Avon Germany and group vice president
and senior operating officer in the Pacific Rim. In the United States
he served as president of Avon USA.
During
the Vietnam War Goings served in the U.S. Navy on the Destroyer, USS Power.
In 1999, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America honored him with the Herbert
Hoover Humanitarian Award for his outstanding leadership as their National
Chairman. The People's Republic of China recognized him with the Marco
Polo Award in March of 2000 for his visionary leadership, significant
role in China's economic development and concern for Chinese society.
The
Leadership Forum Luncheon Series was created in 2002 by The Citadel's
School of Business to showcase outstanding leaders and involve students,
faculty, staff, community members, business owners and managers in intellectually
challenging and inspirational presentations.
