This small symbolic act, occurring during Corps Day, reflects that The Citadel never forgets its own, Turregano said. Eggers, 28, was a special forces detachment commander assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was killed in Afghanistan on May 29, 2004 when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device near Kandahar. The CFC-A Compound in Kabul, was named in his honor during a dedication ceremony on March 20, 2005.
