The Physical Plant Motor Pool operates three separate fleets of vehicles for the college.

Owned vehicles are utilized for the maintenance and repair activities on the campus. These vehicles are typically pickup trucks, service vehicles and specialty vehicles such as tractors and digging equipment. These vehicles are not available for check out. The Motor Pool operate two separate rental vehicles fleets that are comprised of vehicles leased by The Citadel and vehicles leased by the State Interagency fleet. These fleets are populated with compact sedans (compact and midsize) and vans (7 and 15 passenger) for daily/weekly rental. Vehicles leased by The Citadel are available to only Citadel activities, vehicles leased by the Interagency fleet are available for all state agencies. The rental rates for both fleets are the same. Reservations for the use of vehicles can be made by contacting the Dispatcher at 953-6851, or by filling out the Vehicle Request Form.

The Citadel Motor Vehicle Management document promulgates policies and procedures governing the use and management of licensed motor vehicles owned or leased by The Citadel. Specifically the policy defines who is allowed to use state owned vehicles, the procedures to obtain a vehicle, responsible parties, accidents and procedures to follow maintenance program and vehicle rates.

The Citadel Motor Pool operates a Taxi and Courier service for the campus. The Physical Plant has a designated vehicle driver to provide emergency transportation, taxi and courier service on and off the campus. Hours of service are from 0730-1600 hours, Monday through Friday. There is a cost for the use of the courier and the charges can be found in under the Taxi and Courier Policy.
