Young Adult Literature, Spring 2013

Dates and Times: Jan 10 - Apr 18 (Th), 4:30-7:30 pm
3 Hours Graduate Credit

This course is for teachers who want to become more familiar with current young adult literature -- the books students are reading outside of class -- and with ways to use some of those books in regular classes. Participants will read a wide array of young adult books and share information about those books, as well as teaching ideas, with colleagues. The cost is $300.

TomTom Thompson, Ph.D., is the Director of the Lowcountry Writing Project and a Professor of English at The Citadel. He teaches undergraduate courses in composition and public speaking, as well as graduate courses in Young Adult Lit and ELA Methods. He also supervises student teachers, works with the Teacher Cadet program at Wando High School, and gives guest presentations to high school seniors about the realities of college writing.

Registration Deadline

Applications should be submitted as early as possbile, as all materials must be received in the LWP office by December 20, 2012. (If you register online but do not turn in your materials on time, your check will be refunded.) We must have at least 10 participants registered by Dec 20 for this class to make, so encourage a colleague to register with you!
