Lowcountry Writing Project

This course is for teachers who want to become more familiar with current young adult literature -- the books students are reading outside of class -- and with ways to use some of those books in regular classes. Participants will read a wide array of young adult books and share information about those books, as well as teaching ideas, with colleagues.

Tom Thompson, Ph.D., is the Director of the Lowcountry Writing Project and an Associate Professor of English at The Citadel. He teaches undergraduate courses in composition and public speaking, as well as graduate courses in Young Adult Lit and ELA Methods. He also supervises student teachers, works with the Teacher Cadet program at Wando High School, and gives guest presentations to high school seniors about the realities of college writing.
